Bishop Cho appoints Mickle, Kim
new district superintendents

Bishop Young Jin Cho announced today that, effective July 1, the Rev. Jeffrey P. Mickle, pastor of St. Stephen’s UMC in Burke on the Alexandria District, will be the new Alexandria District superintendent, and the Rev. Seonyoung Kim, pastor of the Northumberland Charge (Afton UMC in Ophelia and Fairfields UMC in Burgess) in the Fredericksburg District, will be the York River District superintendent.
"These pastors have demonstrated faithful ministries for many years in serving local churches and conference boards and agencies," Bishop Cho said. "I discerned they have gifts and graces to serve their respective districts effectively and to reflect the diversity of our conference at the Cabinet table. My prayer is that these appointments will be a blessing to the churches on those districts, the Virginia Conference and their families."
Bishop Cho also said he is "deeply grateful" to the Rev. Joseph Carson, current York River District superintendent who will return to a local church this year, and to the Rev. Kenneth Jackson, current Alexandria District superintendent who has been battling cancer. "Their service and ministries have helped their districts to face their challenges, and they have contributed to enabling the conference to move toward a better future," Bishop Cho said. "Your prayer for their smooth transitions, and, especially, for Rev. Ken Jackson, will be deeply appreciated."
Last month Bishop Cho announced that the Rev. Alex Joyner, currently serving as pastor of Franktown UMC on the Eastern Shore District, will be the new Eastern Shore District superintendent, and the Rev. Wayne Snead, current pastor of Galilee UMC in Sterling on the Arlington District, will be the new Elizabeth River District superintendent. More ...
